This morning I woke early again - about 6:00am and lay quietly for a while before getting up and getting on with all the preparation for the day. I met Tennille and we went off for some breakfast. I just had a coffee as I was still feeling full from the previous evening. We set out for the Arc de Triomph and after John had taken the kids with Tennille I took Gail to begin the walk down Champs Élysées. It is frustrating and disappointing that Gail is so little interested in anything but taking photos. I sometimes feel that she does not stop to SEE things ... Just photographs them!!!! Anyway we made our way pretty swiftly down CE and I stopped at Zara transfixed by an incredible green skirt in the window. Much to Gail's chagrin, I went in, tried it on and bought it!! All she was interested in was getting a crepe to eat on Jardins Tuileries. Anyway we did this and then met the group at carousel. Well we met
Most of them. I sent Tennille and John ahead to the Louvre short of five kids and waited for then to show up. It took them an hour. I was of course terribly worried but that is another story. They pitched up and on we went. They were pretty upset at missing going into the Louvre but I noticed they watch and listen better now!!
After the Louvre we went for our cycle tour. To start with we were running a bit late which began with the musing kids. Toilet queues in the Louvre held us up even more and then the vague instructions or get to the bike. Place were the final piece in thee puzzle. We were walking around stressed out but eventually found it. We divided the kids into three groups and then set out. I had my group with a lovely girl, Renata. At the beginning one of my dilly dames ( who was in the lost party earlier) was left behind at one of the first turns and it took twenty minutes to find her but after that despite a curtailed tour it was terrific. I got the hang of my bike within a few minutes and just LOVED it. You can only cycle at the Louvre with a tour guide and so that part was pretty special. We stopped off for the best ice creams near the George Pompidou where we returned to eat that night so I took Tennille and John there for them
to taste these amazing things and to my delight i found the kids sharing the experience with their friends too!!!!
After dinner we gave the kids some
free time, meeting them at the Stravinsky fountain and then walked home for a reasonably early night. After our teacher meeting I got to bed at about midnight. Despite having its stressful moments it was a good day.
I was delighted to hear from
Carmen this morning that she passed her Latin exam so well. Today we are off to Giverny. And I think I may have made the start a bit late.... Tough!!!! We will see how it all works out....
