We are disembarking in Calais - on the coach of course!! I had a great time in the duty free - don't worry- not my expense. I bought gifts for Tennille and John's wife from the trip kids. The perfume on the ferry is very cost effective.
We are on our way to Villers-Bretonneux where we will hold our own Anzac Day service and then I hope we can have lunch in Amiens. I would love to see the cathedral there and of course the Armistice after WW1 was signed there so it would be good to go there.
The ferry crossing was fun... good clear weather. We bought coffees (our first of the morning and much needed by all) and ate our YH provided breakfasts... Not too bad. I checked my card balances on the Internet and I have enough on my Visa card to complete the trip if things go wrong with Source .. So all is well. I am going or sit back and enjoy the French countryside and my music.
We reached Villers-Bretonneux at about 12:50 and used the VIP toilets from the dawn service! After this leg stretch, we gathered at the cross and I led the students through a small memorial moment with a minute's silence and Tennille and John prayed.then we gave the kids poppies to place on the graves and they roamed freely for about ten minutes. After this we made our way to Amiens for lunch. I was delighted to find a Flunch - huge and very clean- and enjoyed a mozzarella and tomato salad and fruit. It is now 3pm and we are 'on the road again' headed for Paris.
