Tennille and I must have walked a million miles yesterday. We set out at about 8:30 and enjoyed an authentic
breakfast after which we walked all over eventually ending up
on blvd st Michel where we bought some lovely stuff. I was lucky to find some winter tops on sale and they fit very well so I shall look quite chic this winter. T wanted to look at some shops on Ile St Louis and we enjoyed that too. We returned to the hotel at a cracking pace meeting the kids at 1 pm and gave them their lunch money. At 2 we set off for Versailles. It was very hot and very crowded as I expected. As the kids are so exhausted we took them
down to the gardens but they were uninterested in much . They will not
make any effort and I have been disappointed by their attitude. The adults took off to Marie Antoinette's house Petit Trianon and also her farm hamlet. As it is Spring the gardens are spectacular. I took lots of photos. After about three hours we returned to the city and headed up to Montmartre. I persuaded Gail
To use the funicular and we walked up
To Sacre Coeur. The kids were only interested in dinner so John and I took org group to this cute little restaurant and they tried snails. I had the most delicious boeuf bourgnion (tender beef cooked in red wine) I am longing for vegetables!!
Rob then took the kids on the coach around the sights of Paris but I felt again the lack of enthusiasm from them. It makes it difficult for us it muster the energy needed it do anything special for them.
After a teacher meeting we came up to our rooms at 1 pm only to find kids still
chatting - if they cannot be responsible about getting to sleep no wonder they are so tired and cannot enjoy their days. At our teacher meeting we have decided on a minimalist approach and I have trimmed the itinerary.
