Day 6
Today was an early start as Anne & Mike had to leave soon after 8am in order to get up to Calais. Was very sad to see them leave, and does mean that I am truly 'solo' now for the rest of the ride.
After they had gone I spent about an hour tinkering away with the bike, checking nuts, lubricating, sorting tyre pressures and repacking the panniers to be as equal in weight as possible, then set off. The going seemed painfully slow, and it took me time to get used to the increased weight on the bike again. I was also back in charge of my own navigation, which of course hindered progress as I was constantly checking I was on the right road etc, a task over the last few days I had welcomed Mike taking full charge of.
Still, managed 25 miles before lunch and bought some food in town, stopping at a nice spot a few miles out and then getting rid of some excess weight/waste including pages from books, extra lock & electric shaver (need a new one anyways, and yes, there were bins available!)
Anyways, pressed on after that, encountering more headwind and even more hills!
Made it into Aubusson early enough to sort out hotels for later in the trip, as well as finally doing a wash (wearing a cycling jersey for the third time was beginning to stink!) Took a walk around town to ease the legs, and got a take away pizza for dinner... delicious!
Shattered now, and early start tomorrow. Hope everyone is well. Chris x

Annie and Mike You have done wonderfully so far; we SO enjoyed your company and your determination! Well done; I hope people reading the blog donate even more money to the EJF..you deserve it after all those hills, particularly now with the panniers attached!. I will now read all the blogs to date, but I hope that you emphasised that you did 107 miles one day!!!!! Don't forget the sunblock each day in the heat... Thinking about you lots and will keep in touch. Heaps of love, xxxxx
Anne Hope you've not had too lonely and tough a journey today - because the rest of us are here rooting for you. Amazing and well done so far.
