After San Diego we decided to brave the Amtrak, great decision. Very clean and no-one on board that featured on America's most wanted. We were adopted by a sailor on shore leave, who informed us that our destination, Fresno, was not best for Sequoia NP and we should get off at his stop and he would take us to a hotel and set us in the right direction.
Jez thought he may have wanted to kill us, I was hoping he wanted to sell us a time share ( more free shows), alas all he wanted to do was help us. So at Hanford Nowhere, California, sailor Phil and his wife dropped us off at a great hotel and drove us to the car hire company..... people are so friendly.
Then we headed off into the trees, we saw General Sherman, the world's largest tree. We were desperate to see bears, but despite doing everything except tying raw steaks to jez, NOTHING.
Although it was Tarantula season. For some crazy reason they like to cross the highways, I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere. So we got to see crazy kamikaze spiders crossing the highways..... only in America.
Next stop Yosemite and San Francisco.
