Just a quick update upon my arrival in Belgium, :)
It is everything I expected but so much more. French is coming back so easily and with the help of my new mom I am learning more and more, Valentine is on accent duty and Philpe is just plain funny. My new house is a brick farmhouse with a perfectly tempurtured pool and a backyard any landscaper would envy. The drive to the airport was 20 minutes, I am 20 minutes from Brussels, 5 from Wavre and 10 minutes from Namur. Basically I am in the stellar positioning for everything.
The ride home was full of laughs, Ive never felt so comfortable with people I have never met before and it was a beautiful drive besides the fact the sky was as dark as night. Even though my lack of sleep should of made me a walking zombie I was all to ready to start and had a constant smile on my face.
When we got home I was shown my room, with an amazing view, a huge bed and clean cut corners. I couldn't ask for anything better, with the help of Valentine I unpacked, danced a bit to similar music tastes and set up my pictures of the people I miss already. We then went down to the kitchen to help prepare lunch, a Belgique specialty, tomatoe-crevete (small shrimp + mayonaise in a tomatoe = delicious) and of course the frites. Appres lunch and clean up my lack of sleep caught up to me leading me to sleep for a couple minutes before my walking exploration of the village I now live in. It was old and beautiful and pleasant. It was Belgium.
After our walk we headed outside were everyone took a dip in the pool and played some volleyball, more importantly we worked on my terrible accents and sounds. But it was all fun. Im not quite sure what awaits for the rest of my day but Im going to go join Val playing guitar.
Tomorrow its off to Wavre to see the market, to sign papers, to get a bank card and to meet some new people. I can't wait. This is no doubt the right choice for me.
I miss Canada but love Belgium,
Catherine
