Hello again, Kung fu apprentice speaking! Well almost, as Carla said, I tried Kung fu for the first time on Thursday morning, and tried to master basic 20 moves that all beginners have to learn. We Started at 9am and by 10am i was a wreck. Doing anything in this heat is tough going, and not being built for hotter climates, i was struggling. After all that exercise i decided that the next logical thing to do was to buy a stupid hat, i thought it was rather cool and becomming, but Carla thought I looked ridiculous. You can all judge for yourselves when we finally get around to loading more photos.
Carla & Pete now writing.....
The hat came in handy as we had a cycle ride that afternoon to our next accommodation in Chaolong. Luckily these bikes had gears so were a big improvement on the Xi'an bikes, which was handy as we did some off roading. Surprisingly no one fell off and hurt themselves or got any scrapes (Ben and Nev) and no one fell into a ditch (Tanya). So all in all it was rather successful and sweaty. Half way to our destination we stopped off at Moon Hill a famous hill and place to climb, Pete and the other boys and two girls decided to climb up, but seeing how sweaty I was already and knowing we had another hour bike ride I thought I would stay at the bottom and rest. Thank god I did as Pete's t-shirt had changed from light green to dark green by the time he came down, but he said the views were amazing and it was well worth it.
We continued on our bike ride and saw some amazing scenery and sites along the way, including two tipper lorries coming down a seriously steep and trecherous hill and I immediately thought of Webbs.
We arrived at our hotel called the Outside Inn, which is a cluster of old chinese farm buildings, the surroundings are amazing, with hills in the back ground. It had a pool table so me and Pete had a little competition, I think the final score was 4-3 to Pete ("Though the pool table rolled, the cue was bent and there was no chalk" said Pete).
The resident dog Lulu took us for a walk the next day after a traditional chinese lunch of spaghetti bolognase. We walked all through rice fields, saw all the local farmers at work, came across some rather angry dogs and I almost saw a frog. Here they are everywhere so I know my meeting with them will come, but for now Pete keeps me safe from them.
