We had an amazing time in Singapore and crammed a lot into our short time there. First of all we were picked up from the bus station by a Mercedes courtesy of the hotel, with a wicked driver who had himself and us in stitches all the way to the hotel. The room was so plush with gorgeous pillows (yes that’s two pillows each) a bath tub, Molten Brown products, fully stocked FREE mini-bar including beers, it was heaven. We went downstairs for lunch, before popping next door to do our laundry (we are backpackers so couldn’t afford the hotels cost), after that it about 4pm and so we decided to chill by the pool and wash before meeting up with Pete’s Dad. We had two complimentary glasses of wine and with no food I felt a bit tipsy. We headed to Sentosa island for the sound and light, but had just missed the first showing, so got our tickets for the next and headed to the Luge!!!
It was so cool, basically a tray with wheels and a very easy speed control and stopping method, first a ski lift up to the top and then we were let loose down the hill. I flew down and overtook Pete once at the bottom we all decided to go again, so ran around again. The sound and light show was probably meant for kids with overly happy actors and talking fish, but the lights, the water sprays and fire was brilliant. After that we were very hungry and so headed to Clarke Quay for a nice meal. Being outnumbered the vote went to the boys and we ended up in Hooters, I have to admit the food was rather good.
The next day we went on the super cool duck tour, an amphibious vehicle which were originally used in the Vietnamese army, now act as tour vehicles. It was great fun and involved us quacking. After that we headed over to the Singapore Flyer where we were lucky enough to get a capsule all to ourselves, usually it costs about £2,000. It was spectacular the views of the city, the harbour and you could even see the hills of Malaysia and islands of Indonesia. It was a great day which we topped off with some shopping and an amazing seafood meal on the East coast. We had bamboo clams, king prawns, crab and whitebait it was fantastic and a great way to spend our last night.
Singapore was great a real surprise and not what we had expected, with so many green areas and space in between buildings etc. Now it is time to move on and Australia calls.
