Day 9, Day 5 of the House Build. The day started as usual on site at 7.30 with hand mixing of mortar to loosen up stiff muscles and, today warm up on a cold morning.Work starts on completion the top courses of blockwork and continuing of "blackwashing" of walls.Wayne leaves site to look for a saw (which is eventually located on site) with Baba Elliott and magically returns with the first piece of working powered equipment. An angle grinder.Work commences on glazing and roof timbers whilst Wayne and Sarah leave to obtain more tools and materials (gloves, nails and broom).Work is completed on the blockwork by lunch which used over 900 in total. After lunch Nigel and Mary return to GGA to collect the paint and rollers. These had not been collected so a further trip is required to "Build It" (Travis Perkins) to pick it up.By close of play (working late to complete all the preparation for paint) the roof timbers were in place, two rooms were painted, three quarters of the glazing were complete. All of which entertained the local children who watched in amazement at the speed of construction. The team returned to GGA to a teat of traditional Zulu dishes. Most went down well though only Stumpy (Nick) & Mary were brave enough to try the tripe dish.Stumpy was very complementary of the dish and compared it to eating human skin! All in all the day ended on a high as Project Completion is due for tomorrow, which luckily coincides with Wayne's 40th birthday!Wayne is presently head in hands sitting in the corner whilst realisation of his forthcoming impending mid-life crisis kicks in.
