Leaving Capitol Reef behind us we head east toward Moab and Arches National Park. It's about 160 miles today and the drive takes us out along SR24 which although scenic is arrow straight and somewhat tedious. We hit I70 before heading down into Moab and our new home for the next couple of days. We get booked in and head straight into downtown to stock up on provisions (beer, wine) before driving into the park to see a few of the sights before sunset. First stop is Park Avenue where sandstone cliffs tower like shark fins heading away into an almost endless blue sky. We head further in, stopping to look at rock formations with names such as the Three Gossips, the Tower of Babel and The Organ. We make it as far as Balanced Rock before heading back down out of the park and returning to our new campground. It's a dinner of pork, chicken and salad barely finishing before the evening closes out to night and promise of another busy day tomorrow.
