Hiya everyone and a happy new year to you all. Hope you had a great night welcoming in 2007 and didnt over do it on the old shandies..
We managed to make it back to Sydney for the new year eve celibrations and what a show it was. Seen as its impossible to get a hostel in Sydney over the festive period we thought we may have to get our heads down in the car for a couple of night. But thanx to a couple of good friend we met on our first visit to Sydney, they very kindly put us up on their appartment floor for what was meant to be a couple of nights but here we are nearly a week later and we are still there so thank you guys.
So on new year eve we headed down to the harbour for about 3 o'clock but not before picking up a crate of Australia's finest larger first, well the cheepest, we had to see the new year in in style.lol. The hole gang was down their it was like a bomerang hostel reunion with the three of us Siobhan, Cas, Anna, Dane and Kev (our house mates.lol) and the Irish boys. We managed to set up camp in a great little place near the Harbour Bridge and across from the Opera House. There was a great carnival atmosphere and everyone was talking as the beers kept flowing, well it is a good ice braker at least its just a pitty you wake up half dead the next day. The show started at nine o'clock with the family fires works, they were awsome. And then a couple of hours later it was time for the count down to begin and all I can say is what a great place to see in the new year..everyone was singing and dancing (I think it was a bit of prince, so im sure Rossy B would have loved it) and a few cuddles were frown in as well. As you can see from the pictures the fireworks were amazing.
The next day after waking up with a splitting headache and little recollections of how we got home. The boys decided that we would head down to the coogee ovel to catch the Barmy Army vs Fanatics cricket match. It was a good laugh watching some old drunks running around in that heat trying to play cricket. When we got back to the flat I was ready to get my head down for a couple of hours, but oh now not when your staying with the Sunderland boys (Dane and Kev) they wanted to get back on in so of we went. Me, Dave and rooms managed to make it to about 12 before calling it a night and the boys got back about 2ish. For anyone who knows me I cant do two nights on the trot so I was quite impressed.
We had a nightmare on Tuesday trying to find a hostel to stay in with little success. They were ever fully booked or were charging over the odds because of the time of year. So thankfully the guys said we could stay with them untill Monday when the prices go back down so again cheers for that guys.
Thursday was a great day we had a right result at the cricket as we managed to get in without paying what a result. Well me, Dave and Dane did Roomy bottled it when we sneeked through a fire door in the Aussie stadium. He said he needed food but we sore a bit of brown coming from his shorts as he walked off.lol. So it was down to us three to sneek past the guards, down the fire escape, over a fence and into the SCG. I felt like 007 as our plan came together and we made it into the ground. The only problem was that it was the members pavilion and you are only allowed in that end with trousers and a shirt on and their we were in shorts, T-shirts and sunnies. As the security guard approached us I thought the games was up and we would be evicted from the ground. "Gu'day boys your not meant to be in here are ya" he said. My heart was in my mouth I couldnt speak I was just trying to think of a good reason why we would be there..luckaly Daneo came out with it.."oh sorry we are in the England end but we went for a look around the ground". Thankfully he didnt ask to see our tickets and just escourted us out of the members end. It was a great day singing along with the barmy army once again exsept for England letting us down on the field again.
