Niko from Greece
We flew into Athens, and after a packed metro ride, marched our way down to the Pagration Hostel, which is a green door leading to a halfway house with strange rules like no clogs allowed. We did however meet Brett and Melissa from Coffs Harbour, with whom we had a ball, and after seeing Athens, went to the island of Santorini with them.
By the way the Greeks are actually repairing the ancient ruins and most are covered in scaffolding. Maybe we should go touch up some cave paintings?
We hired scooters and toured the island, then the next day did a tour on a sailing boat with no sails which took us to a dormant volcano, warm (not hot) springs, and to an island where everyone except Dave had a donkey ride. We also met Yeale from Israel, who was also staying at our hotel. We had a BIG FAT GREEK barbeque that night (dog apparently). Next day the ferries were cancelled because of the wild wind. We climbed a hill to some old ruins.
The ferries were running the nxt day and overbooked, so we high tailed it back to Athens where we paid too much to sleep on the floor of a hostel. Caught a train to Thessaloniki, then another a few hours later to Istanbul. Catch you there...
