Guten Tag from Austria.
We were only here for 2 nights after taking an overnight train from Romania, and headed straight to Salzburg. The weather was originally very good, and ater setting ourselves up in a B&B (which was cheaper than staying at a hostel), we headed off to climb a mountain.
The original intention was to hike up to an ice cave, so we consulted the map and the signs, and chose a path that would take us directly there. After about 45 minutes the path disappeared and instead of turning around and going back, we decided to go up the mountani, because we knew we had to be on the other side. That meant scrambling and climbing, and after about an hour, we started to see painted stripes on some trees, and decided to follow them. This took us to the crest, then along the crest. Then they ran out, but we followed the crest, because we could see where we wanted to go.
The goat track ended at a place where there were cliffs on 3 sides, and all we could do was turn around and go back. That was even more dangerous than going up, and meant sliding down the steep hill, and lining up trees that we either crashed into or grabbed to slow us down.
The next day was alot tamer, and we just looked around the city, climbed another smaller hill, and ate a kebap. Then we took a train to Munich for Oktoberfest.
