A great ride! 91 miles, but lovely, cool, tailwind. aaahhhh. I did push it while I rode. I felt like I needed to get in a good long hard bike ride after so many short days.
We were along the lake all day. Lots of grape orchards --- pretty fluffy, I guess those are concord variety. I saw a few that looked more like wine grapes (less bushy, less fruit). We stopped for cofffee in Barcelona - it turned out to have a cute litehouse, and a lovely shore and marina view. The coffee was from a gas station, but it was Green Montain, and the station had lots of nice postcards!
I rode alone most of the day - but with folks ahead and behind. I stopped in Dunkirk to admire an electric plant... finally one i could SEE the coal going into! Just after that my rear tire finally went kaput. I had a non-dramatic blowout just as I got going again. Happily, Nancy was nearby in the sag and had a new tire for me. I swear, it feels like I have better traction now!
After a quick stop in the grocery store parking lot (I do NOT understand why folks choose such places to eat their lunch...even IF the van is there!) --- it was on to prettier spots. I found a beach along the route and had my sandwich there.
A few more miles and I was in. It feels good to be in a state where my marriage is legal. I hadn't thought it would make such a difference, but somehow, it does. Canada tomorrow - so I'll remain legally married through the rest of the trips' jurisdictions...=)
