Hello,
So we have just got back from our two day trip to Halong Bay. It really did live up to expectations! Was also quite nice to be on a tour again and be told what to do etc, its a nice break from organising everything ourselves.
So we had a three hour bus ride to Halong city, some nice people in the group though which was good, then got onto our boat and had nice lunch. Went to 'surprising' caves, introduced to us as 'the biggest caves in the world . . . maybe!' They were pretty but it was overloaded with tourists, luckily in the bay itself its so big you dont feel like just another tourist boat among the millions. After the cave we went kayaking, this was brill, they just put us in the kayaks, said theres halong bay, be back in 50 mins. So safety lecture or even instructions for those of us who have never kayaked. Dont worry we did have life jackets though! The sun was just starting to set and so the kayaking was amazing, absolutey stunning. Yesterday the bay looked really cool as well cos it was misty, today the sun came out so we got to see it from two totally different viewpoints.
I have got some more comedy sunburn but nevermind weve finally found some moisturiser without skin whitening cream so itll be fine.
So tomorrow were going to do some shopping then were geting the overnight train to Hue. Its supposed to be a bit of a calmer place than Hanoi so it should be good, were getting used to the hustle and bustle now though. Weve got a much better room for tonight at the hotel as well, its huge! We were very impressed when we got back, it was nice to get away from the city but kind of nice to come back to it as well.
Ill update you all when we get to hue
