Sooooo much for the storm of the century! Ha ha ha. With so much anticipation for the worst storm in 100 years, Connecticut decided to give everyone a huge snow day today. I have no clue where the snowstorm that dump 20 inches in Chicago went but it certainly did not touch down here. I was as ecstatic as one could possibly be out on the road today...barely any traffic and the roads were plowed completely clean! I think I was the only one who had planned on doing inspections today even in light of all the chaos supposedly to come. I'm glad I did get out there today but I was also giving myself a ton of work to do. I was given about 15 more claims today, thus bringing my total up to 28 for two weeks. Not a terrible amount but it still forced me to take time to make those bloody contacts. I worked a full 12 hour day today and am about to take on four inspections tomorrow...not looking forward to it. And I also scheduled two inspections on Super Bowl Sunday which I regret doing now. However, if I'm not working, I'm basically being lazy and wouldn't really have much to do since we're in Farmington (holy hatin'). Just saying, there's not a whole heck of a lot to do here.
I feel really bad for a lot of these insureds though. Ice dams are horrific and I can see the look of defeat in each of them when I walk into their home. They just don't know what they can do to stop the leaking and I can't say that I have many answers for them either. Once that water starts leaking in, who knows where the water goes and what kind of damage it can do. Obviously, once those dams are removed, the leaking should stop but all the local contractors are booked indefinitely. Nick and I were joking earlier today that we should work part-time by slinging calcium-chloride filled pantyhoses (pantyhose? Is it like Moose plural is Moose singular?) across the gutters for $100/hr. Bet we'd pocket a couple thousand easy!
