Today we got our first sign of the holy sh!tstorm that is about to hit Connecticut...all the snow that was dumped in this area a little over a month ago is now melting, causing the rivers and streams to overflow and create mass flooding. I awoke this morning, loaded up my work bag and headed downstairs to my car which is parked outside my hotel and lo and behold, there is the Still River overflowing into the Courtyard Marriott parking lot. And literally 10 feet away from my car was another car which is about 90% submerged under the rising rapids. Probably one of the craziest sights I'd ever seen but didn't want to wait too long to gawk since it would be my car next so I sprinted out and safely moved my car out of harm's way. Too bad though, would've been quite easy to just let the water overcome my Ford Fusion and be forced to stay in the room and relax. But nope, claims won't see themselves!
I found out that I'll be extended for one more week and won't be heading home until March 18th. There were mixed feelings behind that. I'm banking about $71 in per diem a day here so another week here is easy cash. But, the St. Patty's Day festivities and fantasy baseball auction draft were going to be going on while I was home which would have been clutch. It's pretty tough to build a fantasy baseball team when it's a live auction draft and there's a sweet payout involved. I'll try to rely on technology (skype) to ensure my voice is heard but I don't anticipate doing very well.
