Arrived today in my final Italian city, Venice! I am staying about ten minutes outside of Venice to save some money (only 14 euro/night!), and it's easy enough to get there. All I can really say is, Venice just made me smile. It's such a surreal place, without seeing it, you can hardly believe its as beautiful as it is.
I went at the day with the intention of getting completely lost, and luckily, it's something that you WILL do in Venice, whether you choose to or not! I roamed around the city for about five hours, walking down every little path I could find. There are hundreds of signs all across the city pointing the way to San Marco, I'm pretty sure most of them are lies. I followed those signs for a lonnnng time before I actually found it. It was much bigger than I expected it to be, and was one of the most bustling places I've seen on my trip.
I wandered for a bit longer, starting to hope I could find my way back towards the train station, finally said screw it, and hopped on one of the.. water buses? Suppose that's a good name for it, think I might have to hop on another one tomorrow, just gives another interesting view of the city. Sat down beside the Grand Canal as the sun started going down to eat the remains of my previous few days lunch. Decided to head back to the hotel a little early to rest up for tomorrow, which will bring laundry time (thank God), and another round in the city for some late afternoon/night shots. Charging all the batteries now!!
