Today was definitely my best day so far! Got up early and got the bus from Salerno to Positano, on the Amalfi Coast. I have certainly never seen anything like the towns on the coast. The drive there was more thrilling than any roller coaster I've ever been on. The road was hardly wide enough for two cars, let alone a bus. The water and mountains were beautiful and the lemon groves were everywhere. Constantly honking and stopping to let other cars by, it was a really entertaining ride.
I walked around Positano, finding a small deli where I bought fresh mandarin oranges, a small bottle of wine, and a sandwich made with fresh prosciutto, tomatoes, mozzarella, and oil. Ate down at the beach, shadowed by the cliffs the town was built on.
Got the bus back to Amalfi, where I roamed, got some limoncello and fresh fruit and took some more photos. Back at the hostel now charging up my electronics. Will probably roam a little later tonight, and tomorrow morning I'll leave for Florence! Truly a fantastic day, all for now!

Brian Ben, You won't be ready for the beautiful of Florence, and don't forget--if you can manage it--to get up to Fiesole (there's a bus), and if possible, visit the Bencista--a classic Italian "country" hotel. (it's on the way up the hill to the town.) How's the weather? I hope warm. If the wonderful gardens on the hill are open this time of year, be sure to see the Sevres collection in the little museum at the top of the gardens. And the Ponte Vecchio, and, and, and.....what a city! You'll appreciate Brunalesccis (sp?) dome when you see it, from ANY angle! Safe travels, Ben! B.
Allison Ben, will have to show you honeymoon pix from Positano one day! Adored Amalfi Coast, and haven't forgotten the heart stopping roads. Woo hoo!
