After some drinks at an Irish Pub in Florence.. go figure, it was back to work today exploring Florence. I started the day by making the trek up to the top of the dome in Santa Maria del Fiore.. a spot I've been excited about for quite some time, (you should read Ross King's book- Brunelleschi's Dome!) a windy but thankfully dry time at the top was fantastic. The views incredible.
I decided to hop on the bus and head up to the small village of Fiesole, a 20 or so minute drive up a mountain, providing a fantastic panorama of all of Florence. After exploring the town for a while, I came back down to the city to take a lunch break. Bought some bread, cheese, prosciutto, and tomatoes and had a lovely, low key lunch at the hostel.
Went to the Galleria dell'Accademia to see the original 'David'.. what an incredible piece of art. I honestly had no idea how big it really was till I saw it, awe-inspiring. I'm going to chill for a bit then head to meet a friend's sister who is studying here in Florence. Tomorrow I head to Pisa, where I'll drop off my things at the next hostel en route to spending the day at beautiful Cinque Terre!

Brian Ben, Glad you got to Fiesole. No visit to Villa Bencista? Sounds as though you've having a fantastic time. Would you mind singing second tenor in the Cape gig? We're a touch short of the "tenor beasts!"
