Mission Beach

On Saturday 24th Noevember it was time to leave Cairns, next stop was Mission Beach but on the way we were doing a spot of sight seeing! (well kind of!) We woke up early to catch our bus down to the Tully River to undertake our White Water Rafting! The river was a grade 4 - 5 and for those who are wondering what that means, grade 1 is like the River Thames in Oxford grade 6 is the highest grade of river being like Niagra Falls...ok, once I knew that I was crapping myself a little!!

When we got there, we got upgraded to the Extreme Rafting session for free because there weren't enough people on it...I wonder why?! It meant we had the crazy instructors that liked tipping us in and making us go down waterfalls backwards, jumping off rocks and giving us close to death experiences, stuff like that! I must say it was a wicked experience especially the river tasting session, I drank enough water for the whole week!

At the end of the day we caught the bus down to Mission Beach for our over night stay. We stayed in a little place called Mission Reef Resort in Wongaling, just outside of Mission Beach. The little place was lovely, very very quiet. We took a visit to Mission Beach town, it was just a beach and a couple of cafes, not much to see at all.
