Cairns

Tuesday 20th - Saturday 24th November.

Arrived in Cairns from a long 14 hour journey from Thailand to almost being strip serached at the airport! I think they thought Mark was a criminal!

Got picked up and taken to our first backpacker hostel...Koala Beach Resort. Bad idea...Bed Bugs galore! Once we discovered the little critters at 3 am in the morning, we decided to grab our bags and shift to another hostel called Gilligans, like a 5 star backpacker hostel. It had an outdoor cinema, swimming pool, volleyball beach and more! A lot more expensive but value for money!

Cairns is lovely, I've already decided I'd love to live in Oz. Lots of cool shops and a public lagoon swimming pool!

Our first trip was up to the rainforest, Cape Tribulation. We had a wicked tour guide called Cindy and a crazy crew of people, it was jokes from start to end. We swam in Mossman Gorge which is a freshwater creek. We went on the Daintree River Cruise to spot some crocs. We saw a python and loads of bats too! We went on a boardwalk in the rainforest where we saw loads of weird bugs and stuff...check out the pics!

Our second trip was a big catamaran out to the Great Barrier Reef. I got severe sea sickness and passed out! I was ok once we stopped. We snorkeled and had our first go at scuba diving. We loved it, we saw little nemo's!

All we've done since being in Oz, is eat junk food, party, and very little exercise...it'll be great to see what we look like in a months time! We've met some wicked people as well, it's like backpacker capital!

Next stop Mission Beach...White Water Rafting the Tully River!
