Mendoza Mendoza Mendoza
Wow what an awsome place! Mendoza was destroyed by an earthquake back in 1861 and was rebuilt in anticipation of a reoccurance with extra wide streets to make it easy to clean up the rubble this fact makes Mendoza a lot less congested then most places we have vistited so far.
Its hard not to have a good time when the hostel it located at the center of the towns main bar strip but we were very wel behaved and were in bed most nights by midnight i think mostly because food though than anything else(the lomito(steak sandwich i encounted had me smiling from ear to ear)
The two main activities we did in Mendoza were great and made it a place i will remember for some time
the first was the bicycle wine tour and with some advice from our new friends John and Clair we attacted this a little differently than most. On ther good advice we rode to the furthest winnery first this way we would not have to peddle to far with a tummy full of wine(no one ever spits it out) .Just imagine if you can a perfect autum day cycling at your leisure along a country round lined either side with vinyards looking out to the horizone to see the andes mountain range caped in fresh snow now add to this stoping at will in any number of winneries and tasting some of the best argentina has to offer throw in an olive oil factory tour with sun dried tomato and balsamic vinegre tasting and you have got yourself one awsome day. And aside from becs blowing a tyre on her pushie (the tyre exploded as if somone had set off a fire cracker close by) which was resolved simply by calling mr Hugo who came and replaced the entire bike befor we had finnished the olive oil factory tour.I must note that most off these winneries are well over one hundred years old and some are still owned by the original families.
The last stop on our tour was the chocolate and licquer factory and im sure i dont have to tell you how much we both enjoyed this. After we returned our trusty steeds to mr Hugos where he plied us with more wine from clean skin bottles and bec had a great time stiring the s*** out of one the kittens that live there mr Hugo even walked us to the bus stop to make sure we got on the right bus then gave us change for the ticket home great guy on our return to town it was dinner and off to bed(i think i had another lomito:-)
the next acctivity was a hiking abseiling and hot springs day tour .
Not much in the way of hiking only about fourty five minutes to yhe top of the drop point but still had nice veiws .
The firsts abseil wasnt that high only about 5mtrs and not straight up and down either but still fun, then there was a short walk to the next wich was only about 10mtrs but more sheer then the first but the last was a bit more impressive at a little over 45mtrs and straight up and down this one had my heart pumping a little quicker(i made a video and will try and up load it:-):
So after some excitment it was time to head accross the road to the turmas(hot springs) these range from four indoor pools with water temp from pluck a chicken to luke warrm and four outdoor pools varing in temp from water straight from the fridge to just above room temp so naturally i sat in the pluck chickem pool for as long as humanly possible befor running to the pool full of refridgerated water EXILERATING is the only word to decribe it with out offending any one.
Then was off to the water slide and i wasnt embaresed at all being the only person in the line for the ride that was over 4 feet tall not until i almost screamed with fear as i built up speed and pray that i wasnt going to be spat out into a pool the size of a bath tub full of small children but it was ok as they must of heard me coming and got out of the way or maybe they were just in a hurry to get the top for another turn any way no one was hurt so it was time to board the bus and head back to town for dinner and bed(i think i had another lomito:-)and thats about it from Mendoza
