Hi everyone,
This is our first foray into the world of bloging woo hoo! Thanks to Kaz and Ace for putting us onto it. :-)
So we have finished our Spanish Lessons in Pto. Varas. I am glad we went down there, it was beautiful, but wet. It rained consistently for one and a half of the two weeks we were there. That seems to be the theme for Patagoina this time of year. When it cleared the view across the lake to the volcano was awesome. The other thing P.V. had was a large number of very friendly stray dogs, one in particular took to stalking us. We called him stumpy and he became the scourge of our stay! Almost every morning we would find him at the hostel door waiting to follow us up the road to school and more often then not he would find us in the afternoon on our way home. He didn´t seem to want anything except to hang out, as we never fed him. Towards the end we (well i was anyway) were hiding behind cars and crossing the street to avoid him. El perro es loco!!
Our last night in P.V. was a big one. We started early with a few games of pool with The French Boys, Kaz and Ace, and came back to the hostel to find half of P.V. already there drinking. Needless to say we joined in and spent the rest of the night dancing (well Bondy tried), bar hoping and imbibing some what too much Chilean rum (that was me).
The Chilean leg of the World Pool Tournamant stands at Bondy:5 Bec:3 by the way.
The next morning wasn´t too pretty, I still had to pack before we checked out, and the hangover hadn´t kicked in yet. We were on our way to Pucon, 7 hours on a bus. We made our way slowly and painfully all the way up the hill to the bus stop only to have the bus come down and pick up some other tourists next to our hostel. Argh!
This, some of you (aka mum and Erin) probably shouldn´t read, this is you chance to look away. I was feeling terrible so I rushed off to the bathroom. While I was sitting down, I had a sudden and very strong urge to puke. Those who know me will know I am primarily a ´spew on the night´ kinda girl, so it was unusal. In my haste to turn around a took a step back and bumped the toilet door, which I hadn´t shut properly, and it went flying open mid hurl with my pants around my ankles.
Luckily for me no one was lined up for the toilet!!! I´m not sure what the boys sitting next to the door saw, I didn´t hear any laughing so hopefully nothing. Sorry had to share.
Now we are in Pucon. Our timing is awesome. as we drove in along the edge of the lake last night we could see the top of a large volcano called Llaima. It was quietly pulsing away with lava streaming in rivulets down it´s sides. Unfortunately it has started raining again so we wont be able to see it for a few days now. In the mean time there are hot springs to keep us occupied. Mum has a friend here too so hopefully she can show us around abit. As an added bonus she lives with some geos, hoping they can get us closer to the active volcano.
Bondy has cooked me dinner so I must say
Buenos noches
