hi guys juat a quick one to catch up the latest pics come from el calafate and el chalten sorry there isnt many of them (i have more of course) the computer im on dosnt want to play the same game as me. So we arived in el calafate at one am after a twenty hour bus ride from ushuaia. Not a huge place or a lot to do here but a nice veiw of a lake and a stray ice burg (so cute) . the hostel was very nice very clean and the staff are super freindly (though they gave bob marly a caininng day and night) I KEU KEN is the name.We hired a car again here bcause it worked out to be cheaper than taking any of the provided tours and add on top of that if you get through the gates of the national park befor 8 am then its free (sweeet) we got to el moreno glacier before sun rise(which is not hard sun rise is at about 11am) and while becs and michael(our german travel companion)continued to sleep in the car i took a walk down to the face of the glacier hoping to catch a glimps of some ice falling wich they would sadly miss obviously so waiting patiantly for at least an hour in the cold after identifying a likly chunk becs and michael arrived fresh as daisies and warm as you like just in time to wittness an amazing site. A 60mtr high by about 30mtrs across the base slab of ice fall in almost one piece the noise was just as amazing better than surround sound. After this we took a short boat ride for half an hour cruising around the eastern side its cool(and cold) to be this close to an advancing glacier.sadly this was our last expedition with michael we are on our own again
El chalten is a three hour bus ride from calafate a very small town and quite this time of year but it shows signs of beeing a real party town in the summer months . a rock climbers mecca and perfectly preserved national park. the best part(my favourite anyway) is the walks can be done in hours not days and the times on the provided map are exagerated to make you feel good(i completed an 8 hr walk in just 5 hrs) the pics will explain what i saw better than i could but trust me the colours are no were near as vibrant nor are they as over whelming
p.s during our walk bec wasnt feeling so well and turned back but not more then five minutes after i saw(and photographed) what appeared to be puma poo may be thats why i was so quick!!!!!!!!
