THE UPDATE YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR
Well here it is at last, we have just had 3 of the most fantastic weeks ever. Rose and Jason arrived on the Saturday late afternoon chilled out the First night and the next day was a killer for us to, knowing that Ross and Jat were due in Sunday night and keeping it a secret from Rose was very hard. But let us tell you, when we creeped out late that night and brought the boys back, the picture on rose's face was priceless.
From that moment on the week was a whirlwind of fun, laughter and excitement. We have been planning them coming over like two tour guides, wanted them to fall in love with Bali just like we have.
Day one's big event was the six of us going to the Body works for some high life pampering. A 1 hour massage followed by a body scrub with a sort of ginger biscuit mix then washed off, then coated with natural Yogurt washed off, then a nice flower bath to relax in. 2 hours of heaven!!!! Then feeling about a relaxed as Vic after smoking half a kilo of the finest white rhino, a beautiful seafood meal at Jimbaran beach. Even had a live band sing happy birthday to Jason at our table on the beach. Couldn't have arranged it better in the thistle.
Then it was jay's birthday on Tuesday went to ku da ta for lunch and of course cocktails, thats a must in Bali. Watched a bit of the old surf posing, the lads commenting that they could do that!!!!!!!!
Then it was off to the Bali dream villas, for the birthday boys treat. it .our treat was seeing all their faces when we walked in. the villa was beautiful, we all had our own rooms with our own en'suites, showers looking up into the stars. An amazing pool with our own swim up bar. Two days like living like the other half do.
That night we went to one of the best restaurants in Bali. Location right on the beach. Amazing!!!
Back to the villa for a bit of ball games in the pool. Woke up to breakfast being served in the villa. spent all day having a great laugh in and out of the pool. And a visit from the man that show no mercy Wayne the massage man. It was so great for us to see everyone having a great time, and Ross and rose being a couple of little kids again, performing, and getting everyone acting to spice girls, and girls aloud. A real precious moment. even on her iPod her singing in the thistle with chunk(whats up) came on. scarey!!!!!!!!!!!!!Then of course we had a laugh about the old thistle days. (We really must write that book) hilarious when you hear the kids version of events coming from two young kids growing up in the pub. God how you thistle lot would of loved to be with us that night.
Anyway off we were in the evening to another restaurant called cafe Bali (one of our favourites) in fact we are sitting in it now doing this blog. The place is full of new arrivals (people as white as ghosts. us locals can spot them a mile ha-ha.
We hope you lot are not getting too bored, but we are actually enjoying remembering everything we have done. Great way to keep a diary.
Well now it was Thursday of to kuta, bit of great retail therapy, then onto the beach hired the body boards. What a laugh we were all battered with the waves. The lads started all talking about surfing big time. Plans were being made for another day before Ross went home. Thursday night back to our local joint. The marina, nothing on the menu over a pound
Friday it was up early. Six of us and a driver called Mr. Gin. All of to ubud that's the lovely place that we put photos on before. the ones with the rice fields, wood carvings, volcano, elephant cave etc.
The kids were flaberghasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were all knackered when we got back. Quick dip in the pool and bed.
Oh forgot to say we found a great tailors here so Ross was getting shirts made picked them up the next day, couldn't believe how good they were, so rose and jay got measured up.jay for a suit and shirts. Rose for four dresses.
It was Ross and jats last night, so it was off to the bvlgari for cocktails. What a place, they take you down to the bar in golf buggies. 800pds a night to stay at their villas, posh and becks have stayed there and George Clooney etc.in Bali anything they can do you can do. We love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Left there and had our last meal with the boys at the trat. A lovely restaurant up on the hill overlooking jimbaran. Now that's made me remember that I forgot to mention the first night we were all together we went to jimbaran beach. Hats famous for fish restaurants. You pick your fish, prawns, lobster then 15mins later you are on the beach eating them. A real beautiful way to start a holiday in Bali. There was even a band on the beach that came and played happy birthday to jay...
Ok Sunday the last day for Jat and Ross, and only two things on Ross's mind to do 1. Go and learn to surf 2. Get a tattoo at the same place as Dave did.
First off to Kuta beach where Ross, Jason and Dave had their first Surf experience, an hour lesson with the local lads went well and it wasn't long before we were all standing up. I'm not one to blow my own trumpet but after the lesson the girls ( or should I say Surfer chicks ) ask who was the best, and oh yes the old man done the young guns again, not only has it been proven that old papa Dave can hold his breath under water the longest and swim the furthest under water, he has now become a surfing Legend. Watch out for me a this years world water sports events !!!!!!
Now number 2. The Tattoo Ross decided to go for was a Barong on his calf similar to the one on my shoulder (I have since found out the mine is called Rangdar and means the opposite to a Barong. Long story) The Tattoo guy Abenk is amazing, Total free hand stuff and after 5 mins with a bic biro on Ross's leg he was under way. Now young rossco is well used to Tattoo's this being his 10th and anyone that has had a few tat's knows that you feel different levels of pain on different parts of your body. So when ross asked me if it's painful on the calf I of course replied " no mate its a doddle" after all it was over 10 years ago I had mine done a i've long forgotten the pain.
As their flight was that night we left him to it And went back with Jat to get their stuff together.Time was running out and upon returning to pick up Ross I was greeted with a shout from the upstairs window " Dave you F***ing lying C**T it's killing me" Ooops sorry, but what a piece of art work.
Next a race straight to the airport, with Ross Hopping about naked in the car park getting changed. At this point the hole week seemed to have flown by and there is nothing worse than saying goodbye, With many hugs and tears and waves the Two lads were off, After the most amazing week together. Ross seems well happy, and he and Jat seem great together. Knowing that helps when saying goodbye and they left looking forward to coming over again.
Down to the four of us and after an emotional end to the day, A quick meal at the Marina then crashed out.
With rose and Jay having two weeks left it was time to start getting a tan for them so the next few days were spent visiting Beaches. Rose's Favourite being Dream land, crystal clear waters to swim in, the only draw backs are the 15 foot waves you have to get passed which break on the beach. The term Battered is an under statement. Time it wrong and you get tossed around like a rag doll then spat out on the beach with sand in every orifice. But it is still a lot of fun, Caroline has become an expert in getting battered also a expert at laughing out very loudly at the new arrivals unaware of the power that the sea holds.
We ate at our usual hang outs, Marina, Trat, Cafe Bali etc went to the stunning Hilton Conrad hotel and had cocktails, Jason sat with his martini gutted that he was not wearing the new suit, he had made. Rose put two picture's in with a local artist to do portraits, the art work in the shop looked good, but we still had our fingers crossed they would be good.
Made' our friend who works at Ellie's hotel went with us on an afternoon outing, first stop the Culture Park where you can see a statue under construction of Wisnu and Garuda (see pics on Blog soon) this will be the largest statue in the world when finished, I say when because its taken 10 years so far and there's a lot to do. But it is an amazing site. Next off to Ulu Watu Temple to see the Kecap Dance. The temple sits right on the cliff edge, the views are spell binding (see pics) the temple is also covered with hundreds of Monkey's who like to jump on you and nick your glasses, ear rings, Cameras etc. To say that Caroline loves monkey's is an out and out lie, but she coped well and it was Dave that got jumped on. Check out the lovely photo of Rose sitting on the cliff edge, Jason was going to be in it too but had a little bum trouble with the height factor. Should'nt laugh as i don't like heights either but by Christ his face was a picture, a cross between harry hill and a small baby that thinks you are going to drop them on their head. All in all one of the most beautiful places we have seen here.
This week ended with more Surfing at Katu beach, no more lessons needed as Jay and I caught some rips off the rad sea swells ( surfer talk )
Oh stop press forgot to say, Jay sneaked off and booked himself in for a Tattoo while Rose and Caroline got their hair dyed, eyebrow's waxed for just £3.50 each. A bargain i hear you cry, well that's what the girls said until the hair was dried and they found out it was dark blonde instead of dark brown !!!!! so another trip back the next day to sort that one out. We haven't quite got the hang of the lingo yet, and anyway I just love sitting in the hairdressers two days on the trot NOT!!!
There was of course lots more shopping to be done, throw a stone here and you will hit a shop cheaper than primark. We just managed to talk rose out of buying a life size figure covered in mirror pieces. They came out with one case and were going to go back with 3 as it was.
Three days before they were due to go and it was Jason's turn to go under the needle. Good old abenk and his trusty Bic biro, three hours later jay's got a huge fish on his leg, and its lovely. Its also the biggest object below his waist hahaha. Check out Rose's facebook page to see it. We did'nt get any pictures, as jay was crying most of the way through it (only joking he was sound)
From this moment on it was hard for Jason to keep his clothes on, spell bound by the skill of Abenk. Which has just reminded me of a funny story. One day on the beach Jay rushes out of the water to tell the girls about a big wave Dave had caught. Upon standing in front of Caroline resisting the tale, totally unaware that he had split his shorts, and the one eye little monster was saying hello right in Carolines face. Of course we were discreet about it and never took the micky every day after that.
Night before their last dinner at the Marina both the kids love the waitress Ayu, who dose'nt speak good English and laughs like mad at everything you say to her.
Last day and really really not looking forward to saying goodbye the next morning.s It been a start to finish terrific time for us having them all hear better than we could ever of imagined. We dreamt of doing this last year and now the dreams are coming true.
Last supper was at the lovely Bali Cafe, pick up Rose's portraits on the way home, will post pics of them soon. They are really unbelievable just like the photo's we gave the guy. ( we are now open to take order's and ship them back home so if any of you want portraits of yourselves, your pets, your kids, your goldfish or of anything just drop us a line and we will give you the info)
The final squeeze for the suitcases in the morning and then brunch at bali deli, before the dreaded drive to the airport. Denpasar airport has got to be the worst place to say goodbye, cos you cant go right inside. So after another very very tearful goodbye and waves until they were out of our sight they were gone......................
The rest of our day was crap, after three fantastic weeks we did'nt know what to do with ourselves so went home had a sleepless night and got up to a very quiet apartment. Took the rented car back and then the Bali bums were back in the saddle of their trusty Honda......
Back to the gym tomorrow, a swim in the pool and a tan top up, god life's not that bad............
That all the tales for the moment so lets hear from you lot. As we chill out and wait for the next visitors< John and Jeanette in June and then Danielle and Ross in July...feel free to contact Caz and Dave Bali tours, and add your name to the list.......xxxxxxxxxxxx
