Sunday 17th- left tribal travel and went towards the bbq, there was so much food and drink and it was FREE!!! had a few burgers and sausage and then we went to a pub called the green ant where there was an open mic nite- there was some pretty awesome ppl there, some girl called summer was wicked as was this japanese didgeredoo player. spent the whole nite enjoying myself and then crashed at home ready for my activities to come!
Monday 18th- today was Fitzroy island and nina tagged along for the trip. the weather was crap and it rained all day. that didnt stop us thou, so we walked along the coastal path to the lighthouse adn tehn to the summit of the island, problem was that we were in the clouds so we didnt see too much but it was still fun! made it abck to the cafe/ bar and had some well deserved food before heading over to the unsecret 'secret gardens'- it rained even harder so after that we just stayed in the cafe till it was time to leave! got back to the mainland, had some dinner and then went over to tommy's and tj's for a few beers and then out to the woolshed, was about to leave but was dragged out by corey and dannii for another hour.
Tuesday 19th- woke up at 0815, and the bus was meant to pick me up at 0730- s***! so i rang the company and luckily the bus guy was still uin town so i had 5 mins to check out and pack everything together. i succeeded and was subjected to a lot of warranted abuse from cousin ky (the driver) and matty too, but it was worth it. the day started off at babinda (wet place) boulders and a tale about alannah and her illicit feeling for a tribal man (they both died at the boulders tryin to escape) these boulders were huge, very slippery and very picturesque- and i managed to fall in the bottom but oly to hip depth. the next stop was josphine falls, which was a serious of waterfalls and pools- again so beautiful and me n matty tried to get the best shots by climbing on the rocks! a stop off at mr lunchs for some homemade tartlet and sponge pudding was followed by a trip to milla milla falls (place of a lot of falling water)- this was ironically the place of the peter andre mysterious girl video and the timotai adverts too! the water was f***ing freezing but very 'refreshing' nonetheless! there was time for a quick swim at lake echam- a huge lava crater which measured 1km x 800m and a depth of 60m, we had some afternoon hot choc and muffins before going platypus spotting. we saw 2/3 platypusses but the light was pretty bad, and on the way home we had a sing song and went gus surfing- basically tryin to stand up in the middle of the bus while cousin ky drove round the winding hillside roads! such a fun day out and so glad i made it there! in the eve us 3 (matty, debbie and I) saw oceans 13 too.
weds 20th- woke up with no problem this time and headed towards cape tribulation for 2 days/ 1 night. the first stop was mossman gorge, this was awesome and ace to finally see after all the postcards up the east coast i've seen of it. the shame was that the whole tour was a little rushed so there wasn't a full amount of time to fully appreciate it- but hey ho. next stop was the daintree zoo- nothing special and to be honest the staff seemed a little rude- food was good thou and prob the first and last time i'll be having a burger for brekkie! we made good progress over the daintree river and into cape trib, we had a bush walk before we landed in our hostels. i booked a trip jungle surfing- a series of giant zipcords across the jungle canopy which was fun and then a jungle night walk to see it in the dark. the bush walk was cool and was an experiece to see it at night- we saw fireflies, flourscent fungi and creepy crawlies etc- was really fun and well worth doing cos it's not everyday u get to see it like this.
thurs 21st- early start ish today cos i wanted to get to emergan creek and back before the bus left. karine tagged along and we made the creek in good time, went for a swim in the little lagoon with several small waterfalls coming into it. there was a few guys there so we managed to get a lift to the cape trib lookout too- it was 'closed; but we decided to have a look at it..turns out that by closed it meant closed cos there was no platform for the lookout! walked back along the beach with karine and jumped on the bus back home. on the way we stopped off at the tropical ice cream palour (i had passionfruit, coconut, raspberry and whittleseed), there was an hr long daintree river trip where we saw green tree frogs, crocs and several birds, and then onto port douglas for a quick walk on the beach.
friday 22nd- a quick brekkie, into town to get book and send a package home. and then it was off to the cairns AJ Hackett jump site. there jump looked pretty impressive and the actually bungee was better than i remember! the first one i did was a water dive and i went into the pond to my waist, and cos of that i did another one which consisted of a back dive!!! the thrill was wicked and i cannot wait till i get to new zealand to do more! i got the dvd/ photo package too so u guys can see that when i get back. not sure on the plans for tonite, but prob go our for a few social drinks before my bus leaves tom so i can say bye to ppl and still get up in time!!!!
