tues 7th- while those 3 wandered the streets of syd to see as much as poss before they leave, i was free to wander to those sights i didnt see last time i came...the royal botanic gardens and Hyde Park. crazily when i was down on the waters edge i bumped into chris n andy from previous trips and we spent the afternoon together. then went to sort stuff out for their Blue mountains trip and i wandered back via the shopping precient. again totally randomly met those guys walkin to the train station cos they were goin to bondi beach to see the sunset, and the famous beach too! alas we missed the sunset (but as i found out the next day the sun sets behind bondi NOT over the water!) tonite it was the girls turn to cook, and then it was quiz time (where we came 3rd in the quiz and the paper plane comp!, and frankie won some beer too :-)) then it was to the 3 monkeys for a dance and boogie! there was little dancing from us boys so we drank instead!
weds 8th- they again went there seperate ways, and i decided to walk the coastal path from bondi beach to coogee via bronte heads (7km). the weather was gorgeous, and the views were spectacular. with contrasting bushland, varying scrubs and then the sea and rocks. there were many little bays and prestine beaches along the way. stopped for a while in coogee for sunbathing, eating and reading before walkin back cos i couldn't be arsed waiting for the bus! got back, realised when i remet the girls that frankie and i had a "biting competition" the night" before and she had come worse off to say the least and i felt like a twat. made tea, went for a few drinks next door at the scary canary and thenheaded onto scruffy murphys for a final hurrah before they left the next day. there was drinking and dancing from all four of us, but we kinda split off into pairs- me n frankie and jen n james for the night but there dancing was good as was the band that played. stumbled home about 3ish and then passed out on frankies bed.
thurs 9th- rudely awakened by jen at 6, and after a quick wake up wash saw those guys off on their big yellow bus of fun! back to bed and then it was a simple day of nothingness! wrote my diary in Hyde Park, went on the free lib web and back to the hostel for an early nite to save some money and cos i was all alone!
fri 10th- this morn i caught the ferry to the telstra stadium (well basically the olympic park) to see all the stadia used in sydney 2000. they were pretty amazing, so big and so many diff types of sporting/ musical venues i na small area. this is hopefully be what london's east end will look like in a few years time but i aint holdinh my breath! the ferry was pretty neat too, seeing the city from the water side and then all the northern coast too till we went inland a bit. the train back and then in the eve caught the train to faulconbridge to meet up with kim (from noosa) she took me to lunch- with a great meal of barramadi and rissotto. after that there was the roosters game with a beer or two.
sat 11th- a goods night sleep and then it was a long wander round the blue mountains- for a few hours before lunch overlooking the range. and then it was back onto the road to a few lookouts and the finally a good walk round some gardens. the initial walk was fantasic cos we got to walk round the lip of the wentowrth falls, and then down to the base of them cos on the last trip we only had a quick walk there and could only see it from afar whereas now we got right up close to them- and i got went! the other walks were ok, but the views we great-shame i didnt take my camera! it the eve her dad had made us a bbq, plenty of banter over the meal and then it was beer and harry potter 4!
sun 12th- not as much walkin today, there was a trip down the side of the mountains and then a trip back up the other side of the mountains, so it meant i could see them from the other side. a quick walk on one of the many rivers and then i had to rush back to get the train back (with my bbq lunch!) back in sydney and i went over to scubar to see off andy n chris before they caught the bus to surfers. later that eve stayed awake for the footy- wasnt worth it really!
mon 13th- today was the SCG n aussie stadium. the SCG was nice and very weird cos they was a mix of old school n new stuff, but i can see why the players love playin at the place, the pavillion was great and so mnay tales those walls would tell! sorted out the rucksack before i grabbed the train to kings cross and meet up with sheridan and james (from the early days!). a few beers and american pie 5 was the order of the day, and back in the hostel i watched england bat out the final day to get a draw.
tues 14th- a long night the previous day (didnt get to bed till 7am :-( ) i didnt really do much. there was sorting s*** out and taking it easy. in the afternoon i decided to get a tattoo done, so i got my right foot tatooed with the southern cross (google it parents!) with it all black. pretty sore to walk on bu thats cos i was wearing the wrong shoes! in the eve, ate food and went over to the canary for the quiz. didnt do as well as the previous week but it was still fun, and there was a few beers drank. after that i went ovet to the gaff to have a final nite with the canadians. beers later and the wet tshirt contest was fun, was great to see those boys again and gonna try to get my ass over there to see them. bus back to the hostel and then bed!
weds 15th- early mornin start, train was late and then an easy trip over to airport. flight was dandy, shrek 3 was ok the screen was too far away and the film wasn't really funny- good but not a touch on the other 2. caught up with di and pete at the airport and went to their place in hamilton (110km from auckland). had a good old school tea of pork and chips before spending the evenin chattin away before bed time and a good mix of books and footy mags! next few months of the blogs will be from new zealand now, so hope u enjoyed reading my oz exploits as much as i enjoyed them!
