well after the debacle of the last blog, the attempts to edit it and all that wasted time heres my next attempt!
ermmmm...sunday i hoped onto the MRT towards the harbour area of Kowloon Pennisula and the Avenue of the stars (like the broadway stars for eastern actors) got a few pics of bruce lee too! and then further along the promenade was the museum of art..some pretty awesome paintings and calligraphy work. there was a nice mix of eastern and a combo of east-west by some guy called Lin- u could how he had mixed the styles of cezanne and picasso into the traditional chinese work. the calligraphy was good too, it looks so calming to paint/ write the chinese words and they just seem to flow.
from kowloon i went across to Lantau Island and onto a 6km cablecar ride into the middle of the island across several peaks. the terminus was Ngong Ping and a monastery with the largest sitting buddha in the world. the views were spectular but would have been a lot better had the clouds not been as low as the were- at points on the cable car journey the visibility was about 5 metres! the was a bit of buddhist karma too cos i was donating some money to maintain the monastery but my tram ticket flew out (it was very windy, not me being retarded- naturally i swore but still paid the money cos nice monk let me take his pic, and then round a few corners i re-found my ticket...karma or what.
back on the mrt to the promenade to watch the sympthony of ligths across the bay. the largest outdoor light show, was good but not as good as expected. the lazers and lights were ok, not sure they top blackpool thou!
monday 23rd-
last day in HK so i went over the actual island and wandered around the financial area, about the botanical gardens and then up the peak tram to give panaramic views of the area. the tram ride was crazy with a 45 degree incline, pretty fun to walk down, but hell when it came to the upslopes!
