Something nice about spending a morning in New York. I doubt either of us will ever get tired of that :)
Bit of a slow start, must've been the one beer we had during 'Finding Neverland' amidst all the children - we even had to show our IDs. Fortunately, we still had some pizza left over, so we saved time there. As the title suggests, today would be (and was) devoted to shopping.
We started off with a short walk to Macy's. Q walked in and I explained a little of what she should expect: "Oh... so it's basically like the Bijenkorf?". Well, no, she realised, it really isn't. Properly impressed by the sheer size of the store we trawled from floor to floor, sometimes lingering in a certain section of particular interest. Until finally, upon reaching the top floor, our interest was really piqued. Having just bought a house not too long ago (and with all our old furniture not passing the review of my sisters) we were on the lookout for new furniture. And here, on the top floor of Macy's were some very interesting items. Even better, the delivery times were mere weeks instead of the months common in the Netherlands. We had to check, but we're pretty sure the couch would not have made a comfortable addition to our luggage for the rest of the trip. Still... this place was worth remembering. Next stop Soho.
Our first stop in Soho was a small independent book store where I hoped to score an e-reader. Unfortunately, they didn't sell one. From there we played a game of hide-and-seek with the rain, hopping in and out of stores on the way to Bloomingdales. Not as impressive as Macy's we did come across some bikini's which Q briefly considered but didn't end up buying. By now it was lunchtime, and having pre-checked a nice restaurant travelled across Soho to arrive at the address. Unfortunately for the restaurant the burger place, Black Tap, next to it looked a lot more enjoyable so we ended up eating there. Burgers were delicious, though slightly difficult to eat due to their size, and the beer was of similar level.
Now, this being the last day in New York we still need to get some shopping done for the wedding (at least I did, Q just wanted shopping). We started getting me some decent shoes for a wedding (thanks Ed for suggesting Cole Haan) and then split up. I was off getting something suitable to wear but ended up crossing town a few times to find an e-reader, Q to empty out Victoria's Secret. Both exhausted we met up at our hotel to drop our spoils of war.
For food we decided on Korean BBQ, apt as it was Trisha & Emmett who'd introduced us and it was their wedding we were going to! Last night, and last chance of drinking in NY. We finished the night in the Hyatt Bar54 skybar overlooking Times Square (again). Not as impressive view as we hoped, the drinks were still good and the view of the ants in Times Square entertaining.
