With the hike through Boston still in our legs I won't lie and say we got up at the crack of dawn, but we still managed a decent 'early rise'!
Breakfast in the place around the corner we headed off. The weather was gorgeous and instead of taking the subway we decided to walk towards MoMA. Quite a hike (again, perhaps we should've thought this through more) but it gave ample opportunity to experience and sample the NY flavour.
MoMA was definitely a good visit. The main exhibit at the time was Yoko Ono's work. I'm sure she's thought about most of her work, but some things were just a little bit odd making me wonder if these modern artists folk are competely sane. Coming down from the top floor we got to appreciate modern art from roughly 1850 onwards. I wasn't quite able to convince Q why I liked Pollock's work, but I think she now shares my enthusiam for the impressionists.
By now it was lunch time, and we spent a bit of time in the statue courtyard googling nearby places for a bit to eat. Having decided on one we exitted the museum and promptly through the whole idea out the window and decided to get gyros from the hallal brothers' stand on the corner of the street. We took meal into Central Park and found a nice spot to sit down and enjoy it before wandering about the park for a bit. Honourble mention to the small lake with remote control sailing boats: I have to come back here to race Ro at least once!
Having traversed (a part of) the park we stepped into the Met, unfortunately a little late so we didn't have that much time. We covered the American Wing (being in America and all) and part of the Ancient Egyptian exhibition... Q was sourly dissapointed when we were only half way through the latter and we were kindly requested to make our way to the exit.
Once more thoroughly tired we made our way back to the hotel, but the day wasn't done yet! Having spent half an hour finding a place for dinner we headed off to our next NY attraction: Times Square!
Once more gawking like tourists (how were we to know we'd happen to return here every other night!) we walked to the Irish pub where we had dinner. Not really worth a further mention; food was decent, beer was good. The beer finally convinced us to call it a day and having made it back to the hotel, thankfully not falling asleep in the subway, we were asleep before our heads hit the pillows.
