AKA Down Under
A long flight to Australia was made much better by the premium economy seat I was upgraded to randomly! Didna involve much more, just slightly more roomy and reclining a bit more, but when you're tired and fed up, it makes a lot of odds! Couldna get seats together unfortunately though. Arrived Brisbane at about half 6 and spent a while trying to figure out who it was that was meant to be picking wis up. Thankfully 5 minutes later Stewart appeared and introduced himself (Stewart being one of Aunty Erica's primary school classmates who was kind enough to take wis in for a while, until we found wir feet!) Were welcomed into their house with a cup of tea and bacon and egg sandwich. Which was highly, highly appreciated!
Spent the last couple of days being shown around by Stewart and Peggy. The first day took wis on a trip up to a mountain viewpoint where you could clearly see the whole of Brisbane. Then we went to Lone Pine Koala park for wir first encounter with some Australian wildlife! Saw lots of koalas, kangaroos, birds, dingos, wallabies and other bits and pieces. Visited a couple of places around Redland Bay (where Stewart lives) such as Victoria Point and Wellington Point. Wellington Point consisted of a beach with a strand of sand stretching over to an island which you could walk to in low tide. We were able to walk over - beautiful views in every direction. Spent a lot of time going for walks around the area. Was incredibly surprised to see parrots flying over the top of me! Never really occurred to me that parrots exist outside zoos and parks! Had amazing weather, been sunny most days with temperatures in the high 20s! Tans are coming along no bad now :)- comments
