Yesterday we drove from Christchurch to Franz Joseph. We stopped in Greymouth for a lunch break. The journey took altogether around 7 hours. The weather was terrible. Heavy, heavy, non-stop rain so we decided not to do any excursions at Franz Joseph. Today, we drove from Franz Joseph to Fox glacier. The weather was still apalling but we decided to go ahead and do the glacier walk/hike anyway. It was really tiring but definitely worth it. The hike took around 4 hours and for the whole time it rained. The streams we had to get across were overflowing so our boots were full of water. Once on the glacier we couldnt feel our fingers and toes! It was so cold, but very beautiful. A tiring but memorable day.
