On the 24th we bagan our journey to Wanaka. What should have been a 5 hour journey ended up taking us over 24 hours! We were driving along quite happily in the heavy, heavy rain only about an hour from our destination Wanaka. Suddenly, our car breaks down in the middle of nowhere! We get out (in the rain) and try to flag cars down to help us. This doesnt work so we decide to call the AA... neither of our phones had reception! We eventually managed to stop an old couple who kindly gave us a lift to a nearby cafe. We sat there, ate lunch and waited over two hours for the AA man (it took us that long to dry off anyway) Our luck changed from bad to worse when the AA man told us he couldn't fix the car at the roadside. We were towed to Queenstown (2 hours away) where we were to pick up a replacement car and continue on our journey to Wanaka. We thought our luck couldn't get any worse... we were wrong. Once in Queenstown we were told we couldn't get a car until the morning so we had to find somewhere to spend the night! A whole precious day wasted. On the bright side, we had a night free accommodation and a real funny story to tell. (ha bloody ha)

Once in Wanaka we decided despite all our bad luck, we would go ahead and jump out of a plane- great plan... We set off early in the morning and funny enough, neither of us were nervous at all?! The weather had cleared up and our luck had changed as it was a beautiful day. We both sat in the plane and nish found out she was the first to jump, out of the four of us in the plane. Anika found this hilarious. Nish did not. The skidive was an amazing experience. The view was amazing- countless mountains and lakes... we both survived to tell the tale. The rest of our stay in Wanaka was great fun. It really is a beautiful place.
