Gday, and what a sunny day it is, 36C today and its still only spring ha ha! Even the breeze is warm, feels like there's a hairdryer blowing on you!
Yesterday was a bit of a scorcher too, we went to Melbourne Zoo (didnt make it on Sat cos got on wrong tram and ended up in middle of nowhere oops!) I met a guy at brekkie from Surrey who is on his own doing travellin so me him and Sam went to the zoo together. We were feeling quite energetic so walked from the hostel all the way to the zoo - took about an hour and was so hot but got there in the end and even saw a dead possum on the way, nice!? The zoo was great, I took lots of pics but will load them on another day. The zoo is really big and clean too and the enclosures were all pretty cool with loads of mad plants and things. Finally saw some roos but they were all laying down in the shade cos it was so hot! Mum, u would have loved to u-tangs I took lots of pics for you! They had a u-tang sanctury that hada glass window overlooking where they were and there was a u-tang right next to us eating his banana! They were dead active too, swinging all over the place! The only animals that didnt make an appearance were the tigers which was a shame but got to see everything else and was good being with other people. Last night me and a couple of others played cards with a box of wine till the early hours, tired today!! Got up for brekkie then back to bed for a power nap!
Its realy good having people that u can just hang out with in the day, makes everything so much easier and more fun! Its at the point now too where people come and ask me what my plans are and can they tag along which is good, makes me feel wanted ha ha! Its great speaking to other travellers and hearing their stories too!
Today we went to the Crown complex (big place with hotel/casino/shops etc) as they've got a Christmas scene bit and a show too with Santa, just a big kid when it comes to Christmas! I got some pics, it was a nice display and the show was pretty cool with music and lights and the scenes all moved. Felt dead out of place in the complex though, the hotel is so so so posh, they just let you wander round it but felt like such a tramp in my clothes! You could easily tell the non-tourists cos they were all dressed like they were going to a ball or something! And you'll be thrilled to hear that I'm doing the Neighbours tour tomorrow and visiting Ramsey Street, its gotta be done! I wasn't sure whether to do it now or when Im back in Melbourne after my tour but everyone keeps saying what a laugh it is so I thought I'd treat myself!
My 2 room mates leave tomorrow morning on their adventure to western australia in their new car. They were lucky enough to score a couple of free tickets to the U2 concert last nite cos they got drunk one nite with the trukkies who set the stage up , how lucky!!! So then I'll either have the room to myself for a couple of days or new faces to get used to! Tonight we're gunna have a meal together before they set off, and probably work our way thru the rest of the wine left from last nite! One of them has here GHD's with her - oh how I miss my hair straighteners!! So straightend my hair last nite just for the sake of it, may sound sad but u have no idea how goo itfelt to be able to straighten my hair!!
Havent been out to any bars or clubs yet - cos its a City the dress code is pretty strict and not backpacker friendly! The girls all where really posh dresses and shoes and the guys have to wear shirts, its expensive too so am just saving my pennies, gunna need them for Sydney cos I hear its really expensive there, oh no!
So only a couple of days left before I set off to Sydney, havent booked any accomodation, just gunna see what happens when I get there but have found a place with vacancies over xmas and new year so can book in there when I get there. Hoping to meet someone on the bus and maybe tag onto them! I hear my xmas cards have arrived at work and a small stash to mum as well to be given out to the lucy selected few so they got there pretty quick! It's dead weird that Ive only got a couple of days left here, its gone so quickly and I really do love Melbourne City.
So off into the sunshine now, hope its not too chilly back home for u all!
Ang xx
