Hello
Not sure what i wrote last time... I've started teaching my class- not a huge success so far because I'm trying to implement a new reward system, but my khemer teacher who translates doesn't get it herslf!!! Its quite tricky as she doesn't understand much I say!
Yesterday Bianca and Ailsa (who are both lovely) and I went to S-21, which is the place where the khemer rouge tortured and questioned over 14000 people... only 7 survived! We then went to the killing fields....
S-21 was the worst becase it has hardly changes... there are still blood stained tyles and splatters on the ceiling! There are also loads od greusome pictures... so aweful! The worst bit is the rooms full of photos of all th people who were ''processed'. The khemer rouge had no respect for life, even babies and young children were killed, sometimes as a way of getting confessions out of parents!
The killing fields weren't quite so striking but you can see clothes sticking out of the ground where the earth gets washed away... and bits of bone. There is a memorial roughly 20m high filled with skulls that were excavated.
Later, in the afternoon, we went to the museum, which was intereting as it was filled with lots of ststues from temples, but unfortunately there was no description or explanation of what they were! So, it did get a little boring by the end! The building was beautiful- huge and sand red with dcorative 'pointy bits'on the roof! Halfway through our visit we saw a giant rat jump into one of the 'ponds''... this was the most exciting bit.
On friday, we went to a rollerdisco... they skate the same way that they drive- with little regard for safety and very bad spacial awareness... at one point an unsuspecting Helen had a small child skate through her legs! Was good fun although the smell coming of the roller skates was humming... it was a possible bio hazard! And I got the worst blister ever.... a real killer!
We have the cutest puppy in the house next door... although no one likes it because it pooed on the floor!!! And it has a pon chance for biting toes!
Today we went to the water park.... hum, the water wasn't exactly clear- you couldn't see your feet it was so murky!!! Eeeeew. And, some little thieving gypo stole my rubber ring after I fell off it going down a slide... it cost a whole dollar.
Back to work tomorrow... to the wee kiddies, they are very cute looking monsters!
