This morning I went to SPR Coffee for breakfast and also to use the free WIFI but I couldn't get it to work and whilst sitting there I met a Canadian girl who was on her way back home as her Mum had just died. In talking to her I was quite surprised by how well she was handling this news. She had been working in China teaching English and seemed to really love doing it. She spoke of the kids as though they were her own and the friends she had made had become her family. It was really listening to her talk about what she had been doing whilst here in China as I'd been thinking about doing the same thing but in Lao.
After chatting to her for a few hours I finally got the Internet to work and checked my emails etc before going for a walk in the freezing cold. I then decided to go back to the hotel and warm up to find that the woman, whose name is Lois, from two nights ago had moved into my room again, which this time I was expecting.
We then went up to the 7th floor of the hostel to meet the rest of the group. The group was all Aussie's which a nice mixture of ages. Our team leader, Tina was from Belgium. After going through all the usual stuff at a group meeting, we then went out to dinner to get to know each other. The group seemed ok so far but like most new groups time will tell. After a really good dinner we went to the Beijing Youth Hostel and went up to the bar on the 3rd floor for a few drinks then called it a night around midnight.
