Today we went to see Gaudi's house, who was an artist that had a lot of influence over the architecture of Barcelona. We took the metro to the Passig de Gracia, where we would do a little bit of shopping before hand. I wanted to buy some shirts or an outfit for going out, because after wearing the same clothes for a solid month, it gets a little bit boring. While we were waiting for the light to change color across the street from Zara, Aileen came to the realization that the man across from us was not wearing any clothes! He was totally nude! With a morbid curiosity similar to looking at a car accident, it soon appeared evident that the man had intended for his groin to appear as a face, and in my opinion' a bit like an elephant, as he had tattooed it so that his equipment would appear as a nose. After the incident, I didn't have any luck finding clothes, as I either thought the fashion was too gaudy, or I could find it cheaper at home. My jeans cost 500 dollars here! I did however make one purchase; in one of the little boutiques we entered, I spotted a necklace which had the style of traditional Spanish jewellery, and it was made of red gold. For the price of 51 euros, it was an offer that was too good to pass up. It turned out to be the only thing that I ended up buying all day. Gaudi's house turned out to be amazing. Everything had been made to serve a purpose, and there wasn't a straight line in the entire building. It was made to have a sea theme, and spanned several floors. I was at odds as to how to describe it, so I caved and bought some overpriced postcards from the gift shop. Tasheel and I both bailed out of an additional Gaudi building, as the que was huge, and went shopping instead. We had all planned to go to a Shisha bar later in the evening, but when we found the place, it was closed, and in a dodgy area. So, we just caught a cab and asked him to take us to where some of the bars were open, as most of them are closed on Mondays. We ended up having dinner at a trendy little place off the beach, where the portion sizes were so small, it was ridiculous. Aileen ordered sliced cod, and it was presented so that the milimeter thick pieces were stuck translucently against her plate. Apparently, eating raw cod can give you worms, dinner was followed by a gorgeous bar were we stretched out on a circular coach and I ordered "sex on the beach" which was the most expensive cocktail of my life. For 18 dollars I could have paid some one to actually have sex on the beach. It was by all means an excellent night and a great send off for my Aussie room mates.
