So, today was a good day. I finally have adjusted to Paris, two days after arriving. A lot of it has to do with knowing where things are. For instance, I now am aware of the laundromat, as well as an ATM, and most importantly; the pastry shop. After having dinner last night, I decided today would be the day that I would start sightseeing. I don't know if it was the wine I had, but whatever it was, it had a good effect. I began the day by mindlessly wandering around Paris, looking for a bus stop, which apparently; does not exist. The man at the concierge desk in the hotel kindly pointed this out to me, and showed me on the map where I should go, if I wanted to catch the city tour. It was about a half hour's walk away, and right in front of the Eiffel Tower. It was 22 euros for a ticket which last two days. Today I opted to stay on the bus, rather than hopping on and off. I drove by such things as the Arc de Trimphe, and Louvre, and Notredam. I decided to stop and see them in greater detail tomorrow, now that I have a vauge idea where eveything is. After taking several photos, I returned to the tower, where I proceeded to wait an hour or so in line, just to buy the tickets. While I was waiting, I saw a group of women similar to the one who confronted me at the train station, asking people if they spoke English, telling the same sob story. This time however, I knew the correct reply was a simple "No." I only went to the second floor of the tower, as I would have had to have wait an additional hour if I went to the very top. The view was still spectacular though, and because it was a sunny day, I was still able to see several of the sights that we had passed earlier in the morning. On the way back to the hotel, I finally gave in and bought a baugette. My god it was good. I now know why everyone I see walking home has one in their hand. Tonight I am going to update my blog, and delete the entry about wanting to jump off the Eiffel Tower, grab some dinner, and get ready for another long day tomorrow.
