Today I met up with Ella and we decided to head out to Manly which is a short ferry ride across from Sydney; an American girl called Clare came with us aswell.
When we got to manly we bought some sandwiches and then looked for a taxi to take us to the north head of manly so we could look out to Sydney. Tourist information told us that the taxi should cost about $10 but the first taxi we asked said it would be about $14 so we asked another taxi guy who said they should all be $10. The next thing we knew that taxi driver got out his car and went over to the other taxi and started shouting at him, swearing and being really racist: it was the most bizarre thing and then we felt really bad for the first taxi driver. In the end, the first taxi driver offered to take us there for free because the other guy had been so rude, which was really nice and he did take us there for free.
The views from the edge of the cliff were phenomenal and the water here is just so so blue!!! Then we walked back down and there was an area where you could look out over Sydney's city skyline which was incredible!
After this, we set off on what we thought was the scenic walk and ended up walking through an old military base where they've built all memorials to world war 1 and 2. It was really impressive but some parts of it were so deserted that it felt like we were in a horror film or a computer game or something.
We eventually figured the way out and ended up at manly beach which was beautiful... It's made me love Sydney even more, that you can just get a short ferry ride and end up here. We got a Ben and Jerrys, chilled out on the beach and then got back on the ferry to Sydney.
I went back to Liesbeth's and we went out for mexican food then rented this means war to watch at hers!
Its been really nice to stay at a house where I had a bedroom for a couple of days and just be able to sit and watch tv on a sofa, and was really nice of Liesbeth to let me stay there :-)
