OK so we have now left Vegas for the second time and are off to our second to last state, California. Our first stop was to the backpackers must see attraction of Disney World, which was the usual mix of rides, kids, and fatties in wheel chairs. The next day we journied across to Disneys sister park (aptley named) California, which was good fun. However the sunny state decided to get its annual rain fall in one day, and we ended up wet through allday (it did not help that I, Tony happened to stand in a sprinkler whithout knowing for about 2 minuets). The day further detiorated when riding a swinging big wheel (the scariest ride ever), I (again Tony) had to reach for a sick bag, cheers!!!
After the joys of Disney we hired another car and drove back east to Palm Springs. A pleasant surprise in the remote desert. The town was wicked and the hotel even had a hot tub. The best (and worst) thing about palm springs was the mountain, and the revolving ariel tramway leading to its summit (again sick bags needed for Tony along with held breath and closed eyes).Although scary well worth the 20 minuets of pain and at the top our first glimps of real snow.
Along from Palm Springs is the Joshua Tree national park, which is very picturesque and not a U2 song in sight. The following day we braved the Californian highway down south to San Diego. On the first night we decided to head to the beach for dinner and a Pacific sunset. This did not go quite to plan however as, due to no fault of the navigator, we ended up in a submarine base. The rest of the time here we spent sleeping at the beach (in the car as the weather had turned cold) and walking through the old town, a must if you are in these parts.
The next few days we drove north along the coast stopping at oceanside, where we found an english shop and brought some mincepies, and Newport beach. It was here that we met up with Higg tried to drink 12 drinks in 12 bars, which culminated in Ali being sick in her cousins car, brilliant.
After leaving Newport beach we headed for the glitz and glamour which is LA and Hollywood. The first day we went to Universal studios, (which was good but not a patch on Florida), where we went into a ghost house which was so scary it left Ali in tears (very, very funny). On the second day we headed into Hollywood, which was full of freaks and really dirty. On the journy back however we bumped into our new best mates (Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts) at the premier of their new film Charlie Wilsons War, we are now sending christmas cards.
Our trip to LA was completed with the customary trip around famous homes which, although you could not see much, was good fun, made even better as we were in a stretch limo. Although LA was not what we expected we still had fun. Which leads to us here San Francisco.
