Ok, lots has happened since Houston. For one we have driven about 1 million miles through the empty roads of Texas. After leaving the home of space we drove to Austin which is the capital of Texas. There was not a great deal here apart from the standard capital building (the 6th we have seen so far), and the free tour that runs along side it. This however was surprisingly good, and made even better by the tour guides funny Texan accent. Anyway a day was enough and so we decided to continue on our trip south.
San Antonio was brilliant. Nice and sunny with loads to see. The main draw in these parts are the Spanish missions set up way way back in the 1700's, the most famous being the Alamo. On the first day we saw the smaller missions (still with a free ranger tour and cinema), and I (Tony, well it wasn't going to be Ali), stood in a fire ant's nest whilst having a picture taken, and had ants crawling all up the legs of my jeans.
On the second day the Alamo was our first stop where we learnt about davie crocket and friends batteling the dirty Mexicans (and losing with everyone being killed). After this we walked along the sunken river and went to the first English bar of the trip (which started in Hong Kong and the waiters wore Kilts). Needless to say our authentic cornish pasties and shepherds pie was rubbish.
From San Antoino the road trip really got started with the WMG getting insurance on the car. 2 days driving later (with a short rest in Van Horn, and nearly driving accross the Mexican border twice, remember Tony was driving) we arrived in El Paso. On the day we arrived it was veterians day with loads of parades. This however was soured by the fact we got a parking ticket (which according to Ali was all Tony's fault), and spent the next few hours in silence. After lunch all was forgiven and we spent the afternoon atop of a mountain which was excellent, and the views amazing.
This leads us nicely to now where we are in Las Vegas New Mexico on the way through to Denver, the home of the mighty nuggets.
