Our first stop along the garden route was Wilderness, a town that lives pretty well up to its name. It's a beautiful little spot, right on the beach with forests and mountains all around. The first night we arrived in the late afternoon, and headed down the from our beach front hostel for a walk along the sands and a little paddle in the freezing waters. The next day, along with a few girls we met on the bus and in the hostel, we headed out to the Wilderness National Park. There we hired canoes, and did a 40 minute ride down the river, followed by about an hours' hike up to a waterfall. Because we'd set of early there was almost no-one else around, and the canoe ride was so quiet and relaxing. When we arrived, we swam in the water at the base of the waterfall and relaxed and had lunch lying on the rocks in the sun. We arrived back at the hostel aching, but feeling like we'd acomplished something. It was a really lovely way to spend Easter Sunday. Later today we're heading off to our next stop, Plettenberg Bay.
