We were recommended Hoi An by dave and were really looking forward to visiting. We arrived in Hoi An about 5pm and were already happy as the temperature was alot warmer and there was no rain!
Getting off the bus we were approached by a number of people trying to get us to stay at their hotel or offering us cheap taxis to the town centre, after alot of talk about manchester and chelsea football club, we decided we would be better of walking to find the centre. After only five minutes of walking, we stubbled upon the town and a load of reasonably priced hotels. After checking in to a nice little place, we decided to head straight out to enjoy what was left of the sun and get a bite to eat. Jamie had read that Hoi An is known for three dishes which can only be had in the city. Of course these had to be tried right away to find out what the fuss was about. Unfortunately one is a prawn wanton, another a pork noodle dish and the other a "White Rose" containing meat so i've not tried anym but having tucked into all three, Jamie assures me they are delightful.
Hoi An is located on a river 4km from the beach, after waking and finding the sun was out, we decided to rent push bikes and make our way to the beach. the ride took us over rivers and rice paddies, which was a lovley little ride. The beach was really nice and the sand looked and felt amazing, we strolled along for a while and then decided to carry on with our ride. Driving anywhere in Vietnam is a struggele, and on push bikes its not any easier! With lots of beeping its hard to know whats going on! Six hours later and a nice ride around town, we decided to call it a day, and get ready to go out and enjoy some more amazing food. And of course cheap drinks in happy hour, which most restaurants here do :)
