4th country in 1 day. Arrived into Zagreb on a steaming hot train. We had our passports checked twice at the border, first time we've needed them, except to get on the bus to Austria.
We won't see much of Zagreb as we're only staying 1 night. The area around the train station looks a bit like a war zone with the worst graffiti we have seen so far. I'm sure the city centre is much nicer, and our hostel is excellent. We are staying in Palmers Lodge hostel, which is 5 minutes away from the station. We're in an 8 bed dorm, which has 4 luxury bunk beds made of solid wood. There is a common room with a big sofa, kitchen and TV, and we've just watched the Euro 2012 final. Glad we're not in Italy any more.
Booked train to Split tomorrow, which for both of us cost the equivalent of £1.57. Also booked hostel in Split as we will be staying 1 night and going to Brač island the next day. Went shopping in a supermarket and got more than enough snacks and drinks to get us through tonight and tomorrow for under £5. It's cheap here, but not as cheap as people are saying Hungary is. McDonalds for dinner tonight, and we got 2 large meals for about £7. Another long travel day tomorrow, but a welcome break from long city days.
