Yesterday morning, we woke up early, ready for our day.
We got a lift to Golders Green from Jean at around 9am, but just as we get there, Trudy realises she forgot the receipt to collect her new passport....so we have to get on another bus and go home, get the receipt, walk all the way down to Archway, another station and catch a bus into town.
By the time we were on the bus, it was about 10am. We were planning to go to Regent's park in the morning, and then see the changing of the guards at 11.30am, but we decided to go straight to Buckingham.
We got there around 10'.37am, for the 11.30am changing of the guards, and to our surprise, it was completely packed!!! People everywhere, right up against the fences, all over the road, and all over the fountain. We got a pretty good place, at the front of the fountain, which we thought was good BUT then, at about 10 past 11, it started pouring rain.
FANTASTIC! We were in the rain, with no umbrellas, waiting for some guards to change. Hahaha
There was some action, we saw some guys on horses, and a marching band, but 5 minutes before it was supposed to start, the police man said it was cancelled due to weather...hahaha we thought.
Oh well, just as we started leaving, the rain stopped, and it was really nice and sunny. We walked through St. James, past the Cavalry museum and to Westminster Abbey.
It was awesome, to see, Big Ben, Parliament House, and Westminster all together, they really are all fantastic buildings. We walked all around the church, there is a really nice stain glass window above the entrance, and the entrance is really nice as well, we were planning to go in but it was 15 pounds, so we passed.
A quick detour past the parliament house again, and we went to the London Eye.
Really massive thing it is, but we decided not to get on as it was raining.
We had all you can eat chinese there for 7 pounds, I ate everything, and there was David Beckham and Pavarotti wax figures form Madame Tussaunds there I took pics with, a little creepy, but really cool.
By that time, it was time to get the passport, so we took a bus to The Strand went to the high commission and got it no problem. PHEW! Is what trudy was thinking.
Anyway in the afternoon, we took a bus to Hyde Park Corner, and walked about 2km to the Science Museum. On the way, we saw these really cool art sculptures in the windows of some rich people shop, so we took photos.
The science museum was awesome!! And its not nerdy, haha. It was so big, and in the 2 hrs we were there, we saw so much, but could of seen more.
On the way home, Trudy got harassed by some beggars while we were contemplating hiring a bicycle, we didn't, but we probably would of got hit by a car or something.
We had pizza for dinner when we finally got home at like 9pm, and went straight to sleep.
