This morning we had to wake up at 6am, great stuff.
We lugged our bags down 3 flights of stairs, cause we were on the top, and had some breakfast.
Said goodbye to Mervin, and Lara and drove top Wareham station to catch the 6.57am train to London.
I managed to doze off on the train, but the 2 ½ hours went pretty fast. We got there around 9.40am, and then we walked to the High commission, which was only a short walk, over the river, which allowed us to see all the nice sights.
We were about 40 minutes early for the interview, but got in 20 minutes early, did it, sorted everything out, and then were on our way. It was finally a relief to know that Trudy will have another passport on Friday.
Afterwards, we walked everywhere. We went to get some phone credit first, changed the tour dates for this Friday, and then had lunch. We did pack some sandwiches, and ate in this little park called Victoria Embankment Gardens.
We planned a route with the map we had and even though had the worlds heaviest backpacks, trekked on, which was fine for the first couple hours, but got pretty heavy after that.
We walked up Northumberland, to Trafalgar Square, which was pretty massive, and pretty massively packed full of people as well. We walked around the fountain took some pictures, which is what the rest of the day was.
We walked through this big arch, past the cavalry museum, towards St. James Park, where we had Ice-Cream and strolled, looking at all the birds and squirrels. That was nice, and just at the end, was Buckingham Palace.
It was quite surprising, we knew it was there, but didn't realise we were so close. Upon first sighting, it wasn't quite as impressive as I thought, but looking at the pillars out the front, the big fountain, and all the really large gates, the place did look quite impressive, maybe even quite royal...hahaha.
After Buckingham, we walked again, through the traffic and people to Hyde Park, where we planted ourselves on the grass and relaxed. Trudy fell asleep for a bit enjoying the sun, before we moved on.
We found the place to be after a bit, just near the massive lake in the park, there were hundreds and hundreds of people, all eating, cycling, running, on boats, all different things which was quite cool.
We were going to rent a peddle boat, but at 14 pounds for a ½ hour, we decided to get a real gross 3pound hot dog. Trudy actually had a cake, it was me that had the gross hot dog, but without the gross, it really isn't a hot dog is it. haha
We were really knackered by then, so we walked out of the park, which took ages, cause the bloody place is so big, and managed to get a bus, back to a place called Golders Green, which is near the place we are staying.
Jean picked us up, Trudy's Gran's friend and took us back to her house in Highgate. Really nice place, very nice lady, and we are having chicken soup for dinner, YAY!
Probably an early night today, pretty tired from the early start 6am, and then all the walking with the packs, which I did calculate to be about 9km, which isn't that much, but lugging around the bags, it gets a bit tiresome. (geez i'm a whinger lol)
