We had to get up extra early this morning because we had a tour.
So making our way to the bus station, taking the 82 bus to the city, walking a block and a half to the coach station at Victoria, and then waiting for the tour was how we started off.
We were about 15 minutes early for the tour, but we ended up leaving half hour late...which was a bit of a pain, as it meant we got home a half hour late.
So the first stop on the tour was Salisbury, where we visited the Cathedral. Apparently the English call it the most beautiful cathedral in Britain.
It was very nice, there was some renovations going on but, it really was great on the inside, the pillars, the glass, the tombs, and the rooves and walls are just amazing. We were told the point of the spire has actually changed places since it was built due to wind as it is wooden, and really tall.
We got a couple of sandwiches for lunch here, and made our way to stonehenge.
It was only a short drive, and the countryside was really nice.
When we got there, the place was packed, as usual, but we didnt really care, as long as it didn't rain.
So we got in, walked under the road from the entrance, and as we emerged, we could get a full view of the rocks.
I finally got to see stonehenge after years of waiting to see how great it was. Now I knew they were big, but in person there even bigger. The outer ring is just massive, the rocks were probalby double my height, if not larger, and the ones on the top looked like they weighed a ton, probably more, as the standing ones are around 25T.
We just walked around, admiring the mysterious thing it is, but also taking some silly photos, and sulkign cause it did start raining again. It did stop though, and we did make a whole lap, before getting back on the bus.
The last stop on the tour was the beautiful Georgian city of Bath. The main stop her was to see the Roman Baths, but we did also drive around and get a history lesson of the place. Most people wouldn't know that Hitler actually bombed the place in WW2, and most of the city had to be completely rebuilt.
Most of it imitating claaical architecture, but only being a new building, and that they have circular avenues, where all the houses are joined, and in a circle shape, or that they are excluded from the Britains bet public gardens awards because they have won it too many times.
Anyway the baths. They were also very interesting. We saw the main bath, the actual spring the water still is coming from, a couple of smaller baths, and the ruins, etc.etc. All the carvings and history of the place was fascnating, as well as the fact that it is not recommended that you touch the water because of the risk of obtaining deathly parasites.
The culture of the people is very interesting back then, and just everything there was a new thing, pretty much everything I heard was new to me, so I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was about 2.5 hours home by coach, plus 30 minutes on another bus, but we made it home for Chicken Kievs and then sleep. We managed to make the time on the buses go faster by taking hundreds of photos of cars. Lol it was fun.
