Our first day in Paris started off really bad. We woke up at around 8, and it was still pouring down rain. Fantastic we thought, but not really, it was s***.
We had our complementary continental breakfast downstairs which included toast, bread rolls, pan au chocolat, cereal, tea, coffee, OJ, and Yogurt. Not bad, filled me up pretty well.
After getting all our stuff, we decided to go outside in the rain. We walked only the short distance to the Sacre Cour, which is amazing, just seeing it at the top of the hill was really, cool, and the inside is even better. You are not allowed to take photos inside, but it was really nice just to see it.
I did get stooged by some African French guys who gave us friendship bracelets, took our money and said Hakuna Mattata.
We walked to the Moulin Rouge next, still in the rain, I got a blue poncho, which with my backpack on, and my camera bag slinged to the front, I got termed the nickname 'Blueberry' from the trudster, which was funny enough to get us through the annoyance of the rain.
We managed to navigate our ways through Paris until we found 4 glass pramids, and realised it was a museum. Hahaha not really, we knew it was the Louvre.
Waiting in line took about 35minutes, then about 15minutes to get a ticket and 15 minutes to get some food, cause we were hungry by about 1pm.
The museum is just massive, so many works of art, sculptures, paintings, statues, everything was there. On the map was a few recommended things to see on each floor, so we viewed most of those, but so many more.
When we finished, we were walking down the river, and accidentaly found Notre Dame. Funny story. Haha
But yeah on the way, we saw the Institut de France, the police station, the Conciergerie, The Tour St. Jacques – which is a tower, not like the Eiffel tower, but more like a square castle tower.
We didn't visit any, but just seeing the very different architecture from England, and of course Australia was interesting, everything is just so detailed, and intricate, just fascinating.
So Notre Dame, we found a garden with hundreds of little birds flying everywhere, then we, without knowing cut the line about 2/3 of the way to the front. Whoops.
So it's a really beautiful cathedral, pretty big, but the outside would have to be the best, the carvings in the stone, and the statues of people, and the gargoyles, have such workmanship put into them, it's just amazing, especially on a big place like that.
After Notre Dame, we started walking back to the hotel, we stopped at a couple of souvenir shops, and passed the Hotel deVille, which was another interesting building.
We got some groceries for dinner, and for lunch the next few days, and finally got back top the hotel at around 6.30pm.
Tuna for dinner, a carrot and whole heap of fruits.
GOODNIGHT
