We woke up had breakfast as usual, stole some nutella and jam for lunch, and then went out.
We planned to go to the Eiffel tower today, but ended up detouring quite a bit.
We walked from our hotel down to l'Opera, The Palais Garnier and saw the building, and what a building!!!
Fantastic carving of the musicians through time, gold statues, big copper domes on the roof, it was fantastic. Just huge, and I think it is a museum, which is cool, but we didn't go inside.
We then walked to l'eglise de la madeleine, which is a church. Went inside, and it was another spectacular church, it had a huge organ, statues everywhere, stain glass.
The outside looked different, more like a Roman temple, with the big colums, and the writing.
From l'Eglise, we could see the Concorde, and the palace, especially the large monument in the square.
We walked down to it, (the monument/ obelisk... I think??) where there were nice fountains around, hieroglyphics, and to the left was the louvre, to the right the champs e'lysee. Took some interesting and funny photos, as usual. lolol
So we walked down the champs e'lysee, which at the end has the arc de triumph, and let me tell you... it doesn't look to far, but it is!
We walked in the park, eating fruit, and then looked at the shops when they started to appear.
We didn't actually go into any, as just seeing the price tag in some, led us away, hey we're to cheap to buy metro tickets, why would we buy stuff there.
You had to got underground to get to the arc, as the roundabout is just full of cars, and it would be crazy to cross.
It cost 5.50 euros to climb to the top, and the spiral staircase reminded us of the monument, in London, except people were only going one way, and the steps were bigger. Which was definitely a +.
At the top, there was beautiful panoramic views of the whole city, could see all the large recognisable monuments which was awesome, it was really cold and windy up there though, miss princess was complaining though....hahaha just kidding. :-)
After we went down, we walked to the tour Eiffel, which was also further than we expected, we had our lunch in the park on one side of the tower, which was nice. Had a carrot, banana, bread and nutella we took from breakfast, and museli bars. Yummo.
I took a picture with the magazine, Mum know what i'm talking about.hahaha
I was a sucker again to a beggar, I just thought that what if her story was actually true, I wouldn't be very nice, but from then we said no.
It cost 3.50 euro, to go up, which we were happy about. It took a while to climb all the stairs to get to the first level, which is really high, but the view was incredible.
We looked around, went to the cafe, got hot chips, and looked in the gift shop before we climbed another million steps to the second level. It was even higher, funny that.
The views were even better up there, and there was a sign saying the 1st level is the height of a 21st storey floor of a building, and the 2nd level is the same height as the 43rd floor.
WOW!
We were up there for ages, before we had enough and bid good day to the Tour Eiffel.
We walked again, further and further away from the direction of our hotel, along the river, and eventually got to the statue of liberty.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo!!!!
we thought we walked all the way to New York, (hahahahahaha) but it turns out, Paris has a Statue of Liberty as well. But it's much smaller, which makes you think why did they give America the big cool one, and keep a little spingy one.
Too tired to walk back, so we got the metro back to the Opera building, where shortly after we found a pizzeria where we had dinner.
It was great pizza, and I had a creme Broulee which was also good.
We talked en Francias again, little bits here and there, and the people are actually really nice, and try to speak English aswell.
We tipped the guy, and he was pretty happy, as were we with our French we could use to order some food, and ask for the bill, etc.
It was a nice stroll back to the hotel, where we took photos of Smart cars, and then we watched a movie in our room, and went to sleep.
